Description
💧 Off-grid continuous flow hot water

Bosch HydroPower Continuous Flow LPG Water Heater — 10L / 13L / 16L

Reliable, on-demand hot water without needing a 230V power supply. Bosch HydroPower uses water flow to generate the energy required for ignition, making it especially well suited to off-grid homes, cabins and remote rural properties.

Fuel: LPG No 230V required HydroPower ignition Continuous flow 10L / 13L / 16L External installation

Best for

  • Off-grid homes
  • Cabins & tiny homes
  • Remote rural properties
  • Sites without a 230V supply
  • Simple LPG hot water systems

A strong option where running mains power to a conventional gas continuous-flow unit is difficult or impractical.

No mains power required

HydroPower generates the ignition energy from water flow through the unit.

♾️ Continuous hot water

Heats water on demand, so there is no storage cylinder to run out.

🏕️ Ideal for off-grid use

Well suited to rural homes, cabins and remote properties using bottled LPG.

Key Specs (Quick Reference)

Fuel LPG
Available sizes 10L / 13L / 16L per minute
Ignition HydroPower water-flow generator
230V supply required No
Installation External
Hot water type Continuous flow / on-demand
Quick buyer tip: The main advantage of HydroPower is that it does not require a 230V electrical connection. If you have a reliable 230V supply and your location experiences regular sub-zero temperatures, a Rinnai or Rheem continuous-flow unit with built-in frost protection may be a better choice.

❄️ Important Information for Cold & Frost-Prone Locations

Bosch has advised that the previously specified Exogel frost protection valve is no longer available in New Zealand following changes to lead-free requirements introduced in 2026.

Bosch advises that a HydroPower should not be installed where there is a risk of water freezing within the appliance or exposed pipework. Bosch considers temperatures remaining below 0°C for longer than one hour to be an extended period below freezing.

Ground frost alone does not necessarily mean the appliance itself is exposed to freezing temperatures. The local installing plumber must assess the proposed location, taking into account local weather conditions, exposure and the risk of freezing within the appliance and exposed pipework.

Important: Damage caused by freezing is not covered under warranty.

If your property experiences sub-zero temperatures, please discuss the proposed installation with your plumber before purchasing. If there is a risk of freezing, consider a continuous-flow unit with built-in frost protection instead.

FAQ

Does the Bosch HydroPower need electricity to run?

No. The HydroPower system uses the movement of water through the heater to generate the energy required for ignition, so a standard 230V electrical supply is not required.

Can I run it from 45kg LPG bottles?

Yes. These units are commonly used with standard 45kg LPG bottle installations. Your licensed gasfitter will need to ensure the regulator, pipe sizing and installation meet the required standards.

Which size HydroPower do I need?

The correct model depends on your household size, incoming water temperature and how many hot water outlets you expect to use at the same time. The range is available in 10L, 13L and 16L versions. Contact us if you'd like help choosing the right size.

Can the HydroPower be installed in an area that gets frost?

Ground frost alone does not necessarily mean that water within the appliance will freeze. However, Bosch advises that the HydroPower should not be installed where there is a risk of freezing within the appliance or exposed pipework.

Bosch considers temperatures remaining below 0°C for longer than one hour to be an extended period below freezing. The local installing plumber must assess the proposed installation location and determine whether freezing presents a risk.

The previously specified Exogel frost protection valve is no longer available in New Zealand, and damage caused by freezing is not covered under warranty.

If your property experiences sub-zero temperatures, please discuss the proposed location with your installer or contact us before purchasing. We can also help with alternative continuous-flow units that have built-in frost protection.

Where should the unit be installed?

Bosch HydroPower models are designed for external installation. Installation must follow the manufacturer's clearance, ventilation and location requirements.

Installation & compliance

Gas continuous-flow water heaters must be installed in accordance with New Zealand regulations and the manufacturer's instructions, typically by a licensed plumber or gasfitter.

Not sure which model you need? Tell us how many people are in the household, the number of bathrooms, and whether you expect to run multiple hot water outlets at the same time.
