Bosch has advised that the previously specified Exogel frost protection valve is no longer available in New Zealand following changes to lead-free requirements introduced in 2026.
Bosch advises that a HydroPower should not be installed where there is a risk of water freezing within the appliance or exposed pipework. Bosch considers temperatures remaining below 0°C for longer than one hour to be an extended period below freezing.
Ground frost alone does not necessarily mean the appliance itself is exposed to freezing temperatures. The local installing plumber must assess the proposed location, taking into account local weather conditions, exposure and the risk of freezing within the appliance and exposed pipework.
Important: Damage caused by freezing is not covered under warranty.
If your property experiences sub-zero temperatures, please discuss the proposed installation with your plumber before purchasing. If there is a risk of freezing, consider a continuous-flow unit with built-in frost protection instead.
