Quick buyer tip:
The main advantage of HydroPower is that it does not require a 230V electrical connection.
If you have a reliable 230V supply and your location experiences regular sub-zero temperatures,
a Rinnai or Rheem continuous-flow unit with built-in frost protection may be a better choice.
❄️ Important Information for Cold & Frost-Prone Locations
Bosch has advised that the previously specified Exogel frost protection valve is no longer available in New Zealand
following changes to lead-free requirements introduced in 2026.
Bosch advises that a HydroPower should not be installed where there is a risk of water freezing within the appliance or exposed pipework.
Bosch considers temperatures remaining below 0°C for longer than one hour to be an extended period below freezing.
Ground frost alone does not necessarily mean the appliance itself is exposed to freezing temperatures.
The local installing plumber must assess the proposed location, taking into account local weather conditions,
exposure and the risk of freezing within the appliance and exposed pipework.
Important: Damage caused by freezing is not covered under warranty.
If your property experiences sub-zero temperatures, please discuss the proposed installation with your plumber before purchasing.
If there is a risk of freezing, consider a continuous-flow unit with built-in frost protection instead.

Does the Bosch HydroPower need electricity to run?
No. The HydroPower system uses the movement of water through the heater to generate the energy required for ignition,
so a standard 230V electrical supply is not required.
Can I run it from 45kg LPG bottles?
Yes. These units are commonly used with standard 45kg LPG bottle installations.
Your licensed gasfitter will need to ensure the regulator, pipe sizing and installation meet the required standards.
Which size HydroPower do I need?
The correct model depends on your household size, incoming water temperature and how many hot water outlets
you expect to use at the same time. The range is available in 10L, 13L and 16L versions.
