DriveCharge™ EV – Max
DriveCharge™ EV – Max
Maximum-capacity vehicle-powered EV backup and off-grid power system using EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3.
DriveCharge™ EV – Max is the highest-capacity system in the DriveCharge™ EV range. It is designed for EV owners who regularly operate off-grid, travel long distances, or want maximum flexibility and runtime when fixed EV charging infrastructure is unavailable.
By combining vehicle alternator charging, expandable battery storage, and controlled AC output, DriveCharge™ EV – Max enables slow, practical EV charging and robust backup power — without the need for fixed electrical wiring.
This system is not intended to replace a home EV charger. Instead, it provides a mobile, high-capacity energy reserve for rural, off-grid, and emergency scenarios where reliability matters more than charging speed.
What’s Included
- EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 Portable Power Station
- EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 Extra Battery × 2

- EcoFlow Alternator Charger Adapter (DELTA Pro 3 interface)
- EcoFlow EV X-Stream Adapter (charge the power station from Type 2 EV charging stations)
- EcoFlow Grounding Adapter (required for supported EV charging scenarios)
- Portable EV Charging Cable (Type 2, 230V, 8A / 10A)
How DriveCharge™ EV Works
-
Charge while driving:
The EcoFlow 800W Alternator Charger captures vehicle alternator output and stores energy while the vehicle is in motion. -
Store maximum energy:
Two additional batteries significantly increase usable capacity, allowing extended runtimes and multiple EV charging sessions before recharging is required. -
Recharge from EV infrastructure:
Use the EV X-Stream Adapter to rapidly refill the power station from Type 2 AC EV charging stations when travelling. -
Charge your EV (slow, controlled):
Use the included portable EV charging cable to add EV range when grid charging is unavailable.
This layered charging approach prioritises flexibility, redundancy, and real-world usability over charging speed.
EV Charging Performance (Realistic Expectations)
| Charging Mode | Typical Output | What This Means |
|---|---|---|
| Portable EV charging cable set to 8A | ~1.8 kW | Very slow emergency EV charging |
| Portable EV charging cable set to 10A | ~2.3 kW | Slow, controlled EV range top-up |
With maximum battery capacity, the EV – Max system supports multiple charging sessions and longer total EV runtime before the system needs recharging.
Power Station Charging Inputs
| Input Source | Power Level | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle alternator | Up to 800W | Charge continuously while driving |
| AC wall outlet | Up to ~2.8 kW | Fast recharge when grid is available |
| EV charging station (via EV X-Stream) | Up to ~3.4 kW | Rapid system refill while travelling |
Installation & Setup
No fixed house wiring or licensed electrician is required.
The EcoFlow 800W Alternator Charger must be installed into the vehicle’s electrical system. Installation time and complexity varies by vehicle and installer.
Once installed, the DELTA Pro 3 system remains fully portable and can be removed from the vehicle when required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the EV – Max different from Base and Plus?
EV – Max includes two additional batteries, providing the highest energy capacity in the DriveCharge™ EV range. This allows longer off-grid operation and multiple EV charging sessions before recharging is required.
Can this replace a home EV charger?
No. DriveCharge™ EV – Max is designed for off-grid, rural, and emergency use. It is not intended to replace fixed home EV charging infrastructure.
Is a portable EV charging cable included?
Yes. A portable EV charging cable (Type 2, 230V, 8A / 10A) is included as standard.
Does this require professional installation?
Only the vehicle alternator charger requires installation. No fixed house wiring is required.
Will my order arrive in one delivery?
Not always. DriveCharge™ EV systems consist of multiple large components and may ship from different locations. Items may arrive in separate consignments at different times.
Important Notes
- EV charging speeds are intentionally limited for safety and compatibility
- Actual EV range gained varies by vehicle, battery size, and conditions
- Maximum capacity increases runtime and flexibility, not charging speed
